1960 freedom of the press rally in Dwinelle Plaza at UC Berkeley

I found this image among my earliest photographs of student activity at UCB.  I don't know the specific context, or the name of the speaker.  I know that in 1960 freedom of the press did not exist for the student newspaper, The Daily Californian.  It was not until 1971 that the Daily Cal became truly independent of the administration and the Regents, having formed an independent corporation responsible for content and production.  Any additional information you could provide would be appreciated.

There is a scant article on the Daily Californian on Wikipedia.
